Some of the portraits here were painted from one photograph, and others were painted from two or more, depending on the pose, clothes, and facial expression preferred by the patron who commissioned the portrait. It's always easier to paint from one photo, but sometimes, it is difficult to get all aspects of an ideal portrait together at one moment in time. Black and white photos also can be used, if properly exposed. Although my portraits are painted from photographs, they are not painted over photographic images previously printed on a canvas as are those of some other portrait painters. couple of years ago, figuring it would be a good subject and good practice whether I was successful or not.|
  I wasn't, but I like the result anyway.
