Edward N. Barad practices real estate law with an emphasis on commercial development and finance. He is a co-chair of the Real Estate Group at his firm, and he has lectured and published extensively on a wide range of real estate issues.

Beverly J. Quail concentrates her practice on all aspects of real estate matters with an emphasis on financing and development. She represents major life insurance companies, pension advisors and development companies.

Keynote Presenters

Peter J. Park was appointed to his position on January 14, 2004. His department is comprised of more than 200 employees that provide Denver's planning, zoning, construction permit and inspection services.

Erin Toll was appointed Director of the Colorado Division of Real Estate on September 5, 2006. Before joining the Division, she was an Assistant Attorney General specializing in regulatory law.

Faculty Members

Ferd Belz has developed over $1 billion of projects of virtually every real estate product type. His company owns the 50-acre former Gates Rubber Factory in Denver.

Patricia A. Gage has been active in real estate finance in the Denver market since 1989. She is responsible for capital procurement, banking and investor relationships, and long-term capital planning.

Larry H. Harmsen has been responsible for capital deployment in North America since July 2005. He was previously vice president and general counsel of Lincoln Properties for 10 years.

Robert A. Holmes practices primarily in the areas of commercial real estate sales, acquisitions, development, lending and leasing.

Bruce A. James has been on the development or finance side of projects such as the Wellington E. Webb Building, Belmar, the Museum Residences, the Denver Newspaper Agency headquarters building, Larkridge and Southlands.

Mike Komppa founded his firm in 1986. Since then, he has orchestrated the development, acquisition and renovation of more than 7 million square feet of commercial office, warehouse and apartment properties.

Brian J. Levitt has been responsible for the development of multi-family residential, office, retail and mixed-use projects totaling more than 2.5 million square feet.

Marla L. Lien is general counsel for the Regional Transportation District. The Women's Transportation Seminar Colorado named her as its Woman of the Year for 2007.

Charles F. Luce Jr. counsels attorneys and law firms on a wide variety of law practice issues, including ethical compliance, risk management, conflicts of interest, disqualification challenges, lawyer departures and client relationship issues.

Hilton Martin has been a mainstay in the insurance industry in Denver for more than 30 years. He has worked with and represented some of the most prominent and respected companies in the nation.

Kirk Monroe has been with his company for nine years, where he manages a group of individuals directly related to a $600 million commercial and residential real estate portfolio.

James M. Mulligan practices most aspects of commercial real estate law, including urban, resort and mixed-use developments.

Marcus Painter has practiced for over 20 years. He focuses on real estate, banking, corporate, and commercial transactions as well as real estate brokerage industry issues.

Kathryn H.S. Pett focuses her practice on transportation law and government relations. She has experience in corporate governance, public finance, public-private partnerships and real estate.

Thomas J. Ragonetti focuses on land use, government regulation, public-private transactions and related matters.

Tim Roble has practiced law in Denver for 20 years. He is a principal in a small development company that builds affordable apartment projects. He has participated in the development of 35 affordable apartment projects.

Patricia L. Silverstein is experienced in real estate and economic analysis, including industry cluster studies, economic and fiscal impact analysis, and strategic economic development planning.

Ana Lazo Tenzer chairs her firm's Real Estate Finance group. She practices in real estate and finance with a focus on lending, representing investment banks, insurance companies, private equity firms and institutional investors.

Kevin Thomas directs research, marketing and training for his company, and also manages Ross Consulting Group.

Kathi Williams has been Director since October 2003 and has been a licensed real estate broker since 1973. She currently co-chairs the Colorado Foreclosure Prevention Task Force and the Colorado Blue Ribbon Panel on Housing.

Eric J. Zinn represents clients in matters involving corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, municipal finance, and corporate acquisition and finance.
